Angel Reese had seven points in the Atlanta Dream’s 64-55 loss to Golden State on Monday night.

The Dream are now facing elimination in the WNBA Finals, and Reese’s recent offensive struggles have become impossible to ignore.

Yet every criticism of Reese seems to turn into a debate about her rebounds, her teammates, the defense she faces or the attention she receives off the court.

Some of those arguments are fair. Basketball is a team sport, and Golden State deserves credit for making life difficult for Atlanta.

But at some point, the star has to take responsibility, too.

Nobody is asking Reese to score 30 points every night. The question is whether a player with her profile should be doing more when her team’s season is on the line.

Imagine if another highly publicized WNBA player scored seven points in a critical Finals game. Would the conversation be this forgiving?

Are people holding Angel Reese to an unfair standard, or does she get more protection from criticism than other players?
