Is this finally the year Trevor Lawrence breaks through?

Because right now, he looks like a legitimate MVP candidate.

Lawrence opened the season by destroying Cleveland, completing 18 of 23 passes for 245 yards, four touchdowns and zero interceptions in Jacksonville’s 34-10 win.

His passer rating was an absurd 150.6. (jaguars.com)

But this isn’t just about one game.

Lawrence finished last season playing some of the best football of his career, helping Jacksonville close the regular season on an eight-game winning streak. (jaguars.com)

Now he’s carried that momentum directly into 2026.

That’s why this feels different.

Lawrence entered the NFL as a generational prospect, but for years we’ve been waiting for him to consistently look like one.

Maybe the wait is finally over.

He looks comfortable, confident and completely in control of Jacksonville’s offense.

It’s obviously early, and nobody wins an MVP award in September.

But if Lawrence keeps playing anywhere close to this level, he’s going to force himself into the conversation.

We’ve spent years asking when Trevor Lawrence would finally become a superstar.

We might finally have our answer.
