The Atlanta Falcons stunned the Green Bay Packers on Thursday night, rolling to a 35-14 victory at Lambeau Field and handing Green Bay its second straight loss.
The Packers came out quickly, with Jordan Love connecting with Christian Watson for an early touchdown. Atlanta answered through Bijan Robinson, who broke loose for a huge 55-yard run before scoring to tie the game.
From there, the Falcons took control.
Michael Penix Jr., making his return to the starting lineup, settled in after throwing an early interception. He finished with 256 passing yards and a touchdown, while Atlanta’s offense consistently moved the ball against Green Bay’s defense.
The biggest difference was Robinson. The Falcons running back exploded for 194 rushing yards and two touchdowns, repeatedly breaking through the Packers’ defense and helping Atlanta control the clock. Drake London was equally impressive through the air, finishing with 194 receiving yards.
Green Bay struggled to establish any running game, managing only nine rushing attempts. That put tremendous pressure on Love, who threw for 312 yards and two touchdowns but also had an interception late in the game.
The Packers briefly cut into the deficit in the fourth quarter when Love found rookie Matthew Golden for a touchdown, but Atlanta immediately answered with another touchdown and a successful two-point conversion.
The Falcons finished with 498 total yards, compared with 328 for Green Bay. Atlanta also controlled possession for more than 37 minutes.
After starting the season 0-2, Atlanta picked up a massive road victory to move to 1-2, while Green Bay also fell to 1-2. (packers.com)
