RidgeYaks Win 5 of 6 Against Warbirds, Cap Series With 16-3 Victory

SALEM, Va. — The RidgeYaks continued their strong start to the season, taking five of six games from the Wilson Warbirds in their second series of the year after opening with a three-game set against the Delmarva Shorebirds.

The RidgeYaks controlled the series from the outset, winning each of the first four games to build an early, commanding advantage.

In Game 1, RidgeYaks pitching set the tone, limiting Wilson’s offense, while timely hitting provided enough run support to secure the opener. Game 2 followed a similar script, with the RidgeYaks capitalizing on key opportunities to extend their early win streak.

The momentum continued in Game 3, as the RidgeYaks once again delivered in crucial moments to stay unbeaten in the series. Their ability to string together hits and maintain pressure proved difficult for the Warbirds to overcome.

Game 4 showcased another complete performance. The RidgeYaks combined effective pitching with consistent offense, allowing them to move to 4-0 in the series and position themselves for a sweep.

Wilson avoided the sweep in Game 5, handing the RidgeYaks their only loss of the series with a 6-3 victory. The Warbirds built an early lead and maintained control, while the RidgeYaks were unable to generate enough offense to complete the comeback.

The RidgeYaks responded emphatically in the finale. In Game 6, they delivered their most dominant performance of the series, overwhelming the Warbirds in a 16-3 rout. The offense erupted early and often, while the pitching staff kept Wilson’s lineup in check to close out the series on a high note.

Through two series, the RidgeYaks have demonstrated consistency and resilience. Their ability to win four straight games to open the series and bounce back immediately after their lone loss highlights a team finding its rhythm early in the season.

With consecutive series victories to begin the year, the RidgeYaks carry significant momentum forward, while the Warbirds leave the series after dropping five of six, unable to slow down a surging RidgeYaks club.
