DENVER — The Denver Broncos acquired wide receiver Jaylen Waddle from the Miami Dolphins on Tuesday in a blockbuster trade aimed at boosting their offense following a deep playoff run.
Denver received Waddle and a fourth-round draft pick from Miami in exchange for a 2026 first-round selection (No. 30 overall), along with third- and fourth-round picks, according to multiple reports.
The move gives the Broncos a dynamic playmaker to pair with wide receiver Courtland Sutton and provide quarterback Bo Nix with another top target. Waddle, 27, recorded 64 receptions for 910 yards and six touchdowns last season and has more than 5,000 receiving yards in his career.
Denver, which reached the AFC Championship Game last season, had been relatively quiet in free agency before making its first major external addition. Team officials had expressed a desire to improve an offense that ranked in the middle of the league in scoring and struggled with consistency late in the postseason.
Waddle, known for his speed and ability to stretch the field, is expected to fit into coach Sean Payton’s system and add explosiveness to a receiving corps that lacked big-play depth beyond Sutton.
For Miami, the trade signals a continued roster overhaul under a new coaching staff. The Dolphins now hold multiple early-round draft picks and added significant draft capital with the deal, positioning the franchise for a rebuild.
The trade also carries financial implications for Miami, which has taken on substantial dead cap charges this offseason amid a series of roster moves.
Waddle is expected to undergo a physical before officially joining the Broncos, who are looking to take the next step toward a Super Bowl run in the upcoming season.
