The Pittsburgh Steelers will look to extend their winning streak to three games when they face the New Orleans Saints on Sunday, October 25, in a historic NFL matchup at Stade de France in Saint-Denis, France. The game marks the NFL’s first regular-season contest in France, giving both teams an opportunity to make history on an international stage.

Pittsburgh enters the matchup with a 4-2 record after earning a 26-19 overtime victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last Sunday. Meanwhile, New Orleans is 2-4 after defeating the New York Giants 34-27, ending a three-game losing streak. Both teams will be looking to build momentum, but the Steelers have a chance to strengthen their position in a competitive AFC North race.

Aaron Rodgers and the Steelers offense

Quarterback Aaron Rodgers will be one of the biggest storylines heading into Sunday’s contest. The veteran quarterback helped Pittsburgh overcome a deficit against Tampa Bay, showing that he can still deliver in important moments despite being in the later stages of his career.

Rodgers will need to take care of the football while finding ways to attack a Saints defense that has struggled throughout the season. Pittsburgh’s offense has averaged 22.8 points per game, and establishing consistency early will be important against a New Orleans team coming off a confidence-building victory.

Running back Jaylen Warren could play a major role in determining the outcome. Warren has been productive both on the ground and as a receiver, giving Pittsburgh another way to move the football without asking Rodgers to carry the entire offense.

Wide receiver DK Metcalf will also be an important target, while rookie Germie Bernard has stepped up amid injuries in Pittsburgh’s receiving corps. If the Steelers can combine an effective running game with quick, accurate passes, they could create significant problems for New Orleans.

Can Tyler Shough challenge Pittsburgh’s defense?

On the other side, Saints quarterback Tyler Shough will try to keep New Orleans’ offense productive against a Pittsburgh defense that has been one of the team’s biggest strengths. Shough has thrown 12 touchdown passes this season, but turnovers remain a concern. The Steelers have recorded 10 takeaways and will look to capitalize on any mistakes.

Wide receiver Chris Olave will be a key player for New Orleans. He entered Week 7 with 580 receiving yards, making him a major threat for Pittsburgh’s secondary. Running back Alvin Kamara also provides an experienced option who can contribute as both a runner and receiver.

Defensively, the Saints have struggled to stop opponents consistently, allowing 29.7 points per game. Their ability to slow down Warren and prevent Pittsburgh from controlling the clock could determine whether they have a realistic chance of pulling off the upset.

What to expect

The coaching matchup will also be interesting, with Pittsburgh’s Mike McCarthy facing New Orleans head coach Kellen Moore. The two previously worked together with the Dallas Cowboys, giving them familiarity with each other’s offensive philosophies.

The game kicks off at 9:30 a.m. ET on Sunday, October 25, with NFL Network carrying the broadcast. Beyond the historical significance of the first NFL game in France, both teams have plenty at stake as the season moves toward its midpoint.

Pittsburgh appears to have the advantage because of its stronger record, more reliable defense and recent momentum. If Rodgers protects the football and Warren finds room to run, the Steelers should have opportunities to control the game. However, Shough and Olave could make things interesting if New Orleans generates explosive plays and forces turnovers.

Ultimately, Pittsburgh has a strong opportunity to leave Paris with its third consecutive victory. The Saints will have the motivation of playing in a historic international game, but the Steelers’ defensive pressure and ability to win close contests could prove to be the difference.
