The Seattle Seahawks are expected to be put up for sale following Super Bowl LX, a move that would mark a historic moment for the franchise and potentially the entire NFL.

The team has remained under the control of the Paul G. Allen estate since Allen’s death in 2018, with his sister Jody Allen overseeing operations as executor of the trust. From the outset, it was understood that the Seahawks would eventually be sold, with proceeds directed toward philanthropic causes outlined by Allen prior to his passing.

Discussions surrounding a potential sale have intensified recently at both the league and ownership levels. If the process moves forward as expected, the Seahawks could command a price in the $7–8 billion range, which would set a new benchmark for an NFL franchise sale.

The timing is notable. Seattle is coming off a period of sustained on-field success, including frequent playoff appearances and a return to the Super Bowl stage. The franchise is widely viewed as stable and well-run, led by general manager John Schneider and head coach Mike Macdonald, who has quickly elevated the team into a championship contender.

The Seahawks also benefit from strong infrastructure and market appeal. Lumen Field remains one of the league’s most difficult venues for visiting teams and is undergoing upgrades ahead of the 2026 World Cup. The team’s fan base, known as the “12s,” is regarded as one of the most passionate and loyal in professional sports.

If finalized, the sale would come during a period of explosive growth in sports franchise valuations. Recent team sales across major leagues have reset expectations, and the Seahawks are positioned to push those numbers even higher.

While the organization has publicly maintained a focus on winning in the present, all signs point toward a transition in ownership in the near future—one that could redefine the top end of the NFL marketplace and usher in a new era for one of the league’s flagship franchises.
