Florida Enters With a Perfect Record
The Florida Gators are preparing for their biggest test of the young season when No. 4 Ole Miss comes to Gainesville on Saturday.
Florida enters the matchup 3-0 overall and 1-0 in SEC play after defeating Auburn 44-39 on the road last week. The Gators have been one of the highest-scoring teams in the country, averaging 54 points per game through their first three contests.
Now, Florida gets the opportunity to make an even bigger statement in its home stadium.
Jadan Baugh Has Been Dominant
One of the biggest reasons for Florida’s hot start has been running back Jadan Baugh.
Baugh has rushed for 458 yards and eight touchdowns through three games, including more than 100 rushing yards in each contest. He exploded for 162 yards and three touchdowns against Auburn, giving the Gators a major weapon heading into Saturday’s showdown.
Quarterback Aaron Philo has also played well in his first season with Florida. The Georgia Tech transfer has thrown for 721 yards and six touchdowns through three games.
Ole Miss Brings a Dangerous Offense
The Rebels are 3-0 and 1-0 in the SEC after beating LSU 32-24 last Saturday.
Quarterback Trinidad Chambliss has been one of the biggest stories in college football. He has thrown for 924 yards while also making plays with his legs, giving Ole Miss a quarterback who can put pressure on a defense in multiple ways.
The Rebels also have running back Kewan Lacy, who rushed for 224 yards and three touchdowns against Florida last season. Lacy is considered a game-time decision after suffering a shoulder injury, which could be an important storyline heading into kickoff.
The Swamp Could Be a Major Factor
Florida will have home-field advantage for one of the biggest games of its season.
The Gators have won the last two meetings with Ole Miss in Gainesville, including a 24-17 upset in 2024. However, Ole Miss won last year’s matchup 34-24 in Oxford.
With both teams sitting at 3-0, Saturday’s game could have major implications for the SEC race.
Florida also has a chance to earn a signature victory in Jon Sumrall’s first season as head coach. Meanwhile, Ole Miss will try to carry the momentum from its emotional win over LSU into another difficult road environment.
