The Los Angeles Lakers continued their strong start to the 2026-27 NBA season Monday night, defeating the Miami Heat 138-117 at Crypto.com Arena. Luka Doncic delivered another spectacular performance, finishing with 42 points, 13 assists and seven rebounds to lead Los Angeles to its sixth victory of the season.
The Lakers improved to 6-2 with their second consecutive win, while Miami fell to 2-5 after struggling to contain Los Angeles’ offensive attack.
Doncic Puts on a Show
Doncic was once again the centerpiece of the Lakers’ offense, showcasing his scoring ability and playmaking throughout the night. The superstar guard shot 14-for-24 from the field and connected on six three-pointers, reaching the 40-point mark for the fourth time this season.
His 13 assists also demonstrated his ability to involve teammates, making it difficult for Miami to focus its defensive attention on just one player.
Doncic entered the matchup coming off a 45 point performance against the Toronto Raptors on Sunday. He continued that incredible stretch Monday, scoring at least 37 points for the fifth consecutive game.
Austin Reaves provided another major contribution, finishing with 27 points. Walker Kessler added 15 points and 15 rebounds, giving the Lakers an important presence around the basket.
Lakers Pull Away After Halftime
Miami initially kept the game competitive, with Giannis Antetokounmpo leading the way offensively. The Heat star finished with 30 points, 12 rebounds and seven assists, but his efforts were not enough to overcome Los Angeles’ balanced attack.
The Lakers entered halftime with a seven-point advantage before delivering a decisive run in the third quarter.
Los Angeles opened the second half with an 11-0 run, quickly creating separation and putting Miami under pressure. The Lakers continued to find open shots and attack the basket, eventually carrying an 18-point lead into the fourth quarter.
Miami struggled to recover from that stretch. Although the Heat continued scoring, they could not consistently get stops against a Lakers offense that shot 57.3% from the field.
Klay Thompson added 19 points for Miami, but the Heat’s defensive struggles ultimately proved too costly.
Los Angeles Keeps Building Momentum
The victory highlighted the Lakers’ offensive potential. Doncic continues to produce at an elite level, Reaves provides another reliable scoring option, and Kessler’s rebounding gives Los Angeles a valuable interior presence.
The Lakers have now won two straight games and improved to 6-2, positioning themselves among the Western Conference’s early contenders.
With Doncic playing some of the best basketball of his career, the Lakers are becoming increasingly dangerous. If their supporting cast continues producing consistently, Los Angeles could be a serious threat as the season progresses.
