Lane Kiffin is already stirring things up before returning to Oxford.
Ahead of LSU’s massive matchup with Ole Miss, Kiffin revealed the message he’s giving his players.
The pressure isn’t on LSU. It’s on Ole Miss.
“The pressure is on them. We won seven games last year. They won 13. They returned two Heisman candidates. You guys get to go play. The pressure is not on you.”
That’s classic Kiffin.
Remember, this is the program he left after leading Ole Miss to the College Football Playoff last season. Now he’s returning as the head coach of No. 8 LSU to face No. 9 Ole Miss.
And he’s already trying to make his former team carry all the expectations.
Maybe he’s right.
Ole Miss has the continuity, home-field advantage and plenty of motivation to beat the coach who left them.
But let’s not pretend Kiffin isn’t under pressure either.
Losing your first SEC game at the school you just left would be brutal.
Saturday night can’t get here soon enough.
