Kamario Taylor Leads Mississippi State Past Missouri!
Kamario Taylor and the Mississippi State Bulldogs delivered another statement performance Saturday night, defeating No. 19 Missouri 31-24 in a ranked SEC showdown in Starkville.
The Bulldogs jumped out to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter and held off a Missouri comeback to remain undefeated at 4-0.
Taylor Comes Out Firing
Taylor wasted no time making an impact.
The sophomore quarterback connected with Sanfrisco Magee for a 43-yard touchdown to give Mississippi State an early 7-0 lead.
Later in the opening quarter, Taylor found Fluff Bothwell for another touchdown, extending the Bulldogs’ advantage to 14-0.
Taylor entered the game after throwing for 832 yards and 11 touchdowns through Mississippi State’s first three games.
Missouri Battles Back
Missouri responded in the second quarter and cut into the Mississippi State lead.
The Tigers scored 10 points in the second quarter, sending the game into halftime with Mississippi State ahead 14-10. Missouri then added 14 more points in the third quarter to take a 24-17 lead.
The Bulldogs suddenly found themselves in a tight battle after controlling the opening quarter.
Mississippi State Takes Over Late
Mississippi State refused to let the game slip away.
The Bulldogs scored 14 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to retake control.
Fluff Bothwell capped a 14-play, 73-yard drive with a four-yard touchdown run to tie the game at 24-24.
Taylor then delivered the biggest throw of the night.
With Mississippi State needing a play, Taylor connected with Magee for another touchdown to put the Bulldogs back in front 31-24 with under four minutes remaining.
Mississippi State’s defense held on from there to secure the victory.
Bulldogs Stay Perfect
The win moves Mississippi State to 4-0 and gives the Bulldogs another impressive SEC victory.
Taylor continues to establish himself as one of the most exciting young quarterbacks in the conference. He entered the night already ranking near the top of the nation in passing touchdowns and efficiency.
Missouri falls to 3-1 after entering the matchup undefeated and ranked No. 19.
For Mississippi State, the Bulldogs continue to roll.
