Everyone is talking about Angel Reese, Rhyne Howard, and Allisha Gray, but there’s another Atlanta Dream star who deserves just as much attention heading into Game 7: Jordin Canada.
Canada has quietly become one of the most important players on Atlanta’s roster, and her impact goes far beyond what shows up in the box score. She’s the engine that keeps the offense moving, the defensive presence that makes opposing guards uncomfortable, and one of the biggest reasons the Dream have made it all the way to the WNBA Finals.
Her 2026 season has been nothing short of outstanding. Canada averaged 11.6 points, 3.5 rebounds, 7.4 assists, and 1.9 steals per game, earning Most Improved Player recognition and a spot on the All-Defensive Team.
She also broke Atlanta’s single-season assists record, recording at least five assists in 31 games and reaching double-digit assists eight times. She’s become one of the league’s best playmakers while continuing to make life difficult for opposing guards on the defensive end.
And when the lights got brighter in the playoffs, Canada took another step forward.
During Atlanta’s semifinal series against New York, she averaged an incredible 22.3 points, 7.7 assists, and 2 steals, shooting 62.2% from the field. She led the Dream in scoring, assists, steals, and field-goal percentage during the series.
That’s not just a supporting role. That’s a player taking over when her team needs her.
Canada has also delivered important moments in the Finals. She recorded 13 points and 10 assists in Atlanta’s Game 2 victory, then helped spark the Dream’s huge first-quarter run in their Game 6 win with two three-pointers.
As Atlanta prepares for the biggest game in franchise history, Canada could be the difference-maker nobody is talking about enough.
Angel Reese may be grabbing the headlines, but Canada is the player making sure everyone around her gets opportunities to shine.
