The Indianapolis Colts could be preparing to make another major move before the NFL trade deadline, and star running back Jonathan Taylor is at the center of the latest rumors.
With Indianapolis struggling at 2-5, the organization has reportedly become open to trading one of its most valuable offensive players. According to reports from NFL insiders, multiple teams have contacted the Colts about Taylor as the November 10 trade deadline approaches.
Colts Could Receive a Massive Return
Taylor has established himself as one of the NFL’s most productive running backs, making him an attractive target for teams hoping to strengthen their offenses for a playoff push.
Through seven games this season, the 27 year old has recorded 587 rushing yards and a league-leading eight rushing touchdowns. His production has remained impressive despite Indianapolis struggling to find consistency as a team.
The Denver Broncos, Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Vikings, New York Giants and Seattle Seahawks have reportedly shown interest in acquiring Taylor. The Cincinnati Bengals have also been mentioned in trade discussions.
However, landing Taylor will not come cheap. Reports indicate that Indianapolis could seek compensation comparable to the package Carolina received when it traded Christian McCaffrey to San Francisco in 2022. That deal included second, third, fourth and fifth round draft picks.
Taylor Has Not Requested a Trade
Despite the growing speculation, Taylor has not publicly requested to leave Indianapolis.
The running back recently addressed the rumors, explaining that he remains proud to represent the Colts but understands that decisions about his future are outside his control.
His comments came after Indianapolis traded offensive lineman Quenton Nelson to Seattle and defensive tackle DeForest Buckner to San Francisco. Those moves have fueled questions about whether the franchise is preparing for a significant rebuild.
Where Could Taylor Land?
Several destinations make sense for Taylor, particularly teams looking to improve their rushing attacks before the postseason.
Denver, Green Bay and Minnesota have emerged as potential landing spots, while the Giants could also benefit from adding an established lead running back. Seattle is another intriguing possibility after already making significant moves with Indianapolis.
Still, Taylor’s contract and the Colts’ reported asking price could complicate negotiations.
With the trade deadline approaching, Taylor’s future has become one of the NFL’s biggest storylines. Indianapolis must decide whether keeping its superstar is worth more than the draft capital a trade could bring. If the Colts receive an offer they consider worthwhile, one of the league’s best running backs could be wearing a different uniform before November 10.
