Pittsburgh Bounces Back With Big Home Victory
The Pittsburgh Steelers bounced back in a big way Sunday, defeating the Indianapolis Colts 34-22 at Acrisure Stadium. Behind a spectacular performance from running back Jaylen Warren and another strong outing from quarterback Aaron Rodgers, Pittsburgh improved to 3-2 on the season and remained undefeated at home.
Head coach Mike McCarthy watched his team deliver one of its strongest offensive performances of the season. After a disappointing loss to Cleveland, the Steelers responded with explosive plays and timely defensive stops to take down an Indianapolis team that entered the game looking to build momentum.
Jaylen Warren Delivers a Career Day
Warren was the biggest difference-maker, finishing with 188 yards from scrimmage and two touchdowns. His afternoon included an incredible 80 yard touchdown reception in the first quarter and a 50-yard touchdown run in the third.
The first score came when Rodgers connected with Warren on a short pass out of the backfield. Warren broke through the defense and raced down the sideline for a touchdown, giving Pittsburgh an early spark.
Warren continued to find room on the ground after halftime. His 50 yard scoring run extended the Steelers’ lead to 24-16 and gave Pittsburgh another momentum boost.
Warren finished with 101 rushing yards and 87 receiving yards, providing the explosive plays Pittsburgh needed to keep Indianapolis from taking control.
Rodgers Continues His Strong Season
Rodgers also delivered another impressive performance, completing 22 of 31 passes for 235 yards and three touchdowns. He threw multiple touchdown passes to tight end Pat Freiermuth, who finished with two scores.
Rodgers connected with Freiermuth for a one-yard touchdown in the first half before finding him again for a 17 yard score in the fourth quarter. The second touchdown helped Pittsburgh create breathing room after Indianapolis continued trying to climb back into the game.
Rodgers has now thrown three touchdown passes in three consecutive games, showcasing his consistency as the Steelers’ offense continues to develop.
Colts Fight but Fall Short
Indianapolis quarterback Daniel Jones threw for 267 yards, but the Colts struggled to finish drives with touchdowns. Kicker Spencer Shrader made five field goals, keeping Indianapolis within striking distance, while tight end Tyler Warren contributed a rushing touchdown.
However, Pittsburgh’s defense repeatedly forced the Colts to settle for field goals instead of touchdowns. The Steelers also limited running back Jonathan Taylor to 45 rushing yards on 15 carries.
Steelers Look Ahead
The victory moves Pittsburgh to 3-2 and provides valuable momentum heading into next week’s road matchup against Tampa Bay.
Warren’s explosive performance, Rodgers’ efficient passing and the defense’s ability to make critical stops helped the Steelers secure an important win. If Pittsburgh can continue producing big plays on offense while limiting opponents in the red zone, the team will have a strong opportunity to remain competitive in the AFC North.
