Jordan Love is putting together the kind of season that should have every NFL fan talking about him as an MVP candidate. So why does it feel like he’s still flying under the radar?
Through eight games, Love has thrown for 2,246 yards and 16 touchdowns, leading the NFL in both categories. He’s coming off another impressive performance against Carolina, completing 30 of 41 passes for 288 yards and three touchdowns in Green Bay’s 27-19 win.
And he’s doing something that puts him alongside some of the greatest quarterbacks in Packers history.
Love has thrown at least two touchdown passes in eight consecutive games to open the season. That’s the second-longest streak in franchise history, trailing only Aaron Rodgers’ incredible 15-game run in 2011. Rodgers went on to win the MVP that season.
That’s the type of company Love is keeping right now.
The Packers quarterback has shown he can take over games, push the ball downfield, and consistently put points on the board. His 367-yard, two-touchdown performance against Chicago in Week 5 was another reminder of just how dangerous he can be when everything is clicking.
Of course, Green Bay’s 5-3 record and Love’s six interceptions are reasons to pump the brakes. But if the Packers start putting together a winning streak, his MVP case could become one of the biggest stories in the NFL.
The numbers are already there. The touchdown production is already there. Now it’s about turning those performances into wins.
