New York Rallies From 14 Points Down

The New York Giants and Washington Commanders delivered one of the most dramatic finishes of the NFL season Sunday, playing to a 27-27 tie at Northwest Stadium. After falling behind by two touchdowns in the fourth quarter, the Giants mounted an impressive comeback to force overtime, where both teams missed opportunities to secure the victory.

The tie moved New York to 3-1-1 on the season, keeping the Giants near the top of the NFC East. Washington dropped to 1-3-1 after letting a late lead slip away in front of its home crowd.

Daniels Makes His Return

Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels returned to action after missing time with an elbow injury and immediately made an impact with his legs. Daniels rushed for 103 yards and two touchdowns while completing 17 of 25 passes for 199 yards.

Washington opened the scoring with Jacory Croskey-Merritt’s 33 yard touchdown run. The Commanders added two field goals from kicker Drew Stevens to take a 12-3 lead into halftime.

New York struggled to generate offense during the opening half, but kicker Dominic Zvada connected on a 56 yard field goal in the third quarter to cut the deficit to six.

Daniels answered with a spectacular 38 yard touchdown run, extending Washington’s lead to 19-6. After the Giants finally reached the end zone on a three-yard touchdown pass from Jameis Winston to Isaiah Likely, Daniels struck again, scoring on a 26 yard run to put the Commanders ahead 27-13.

Winston Leads the Giants’ Comeback

With the game slipping away, Winston delivered when New York needed him most. The Giants quarterback threw for 326 yards and three touchdowns, repeatedly finding his receivers downfield.

Winston connected with Likely for a 17 yard touchdown before finding Malik Nabers for another 17 yard score with 1:43 remaining. Those two touchdowns erased Washington’s 14 point advantage and forced overtime.

Likely finished with 11 receptions for 94 yards and two touchdowns, while Nabers recorded 121 receiving yards and a score.

Both Teams Miss Their Chance

Overtime brought more drama. The Giants reached Washington’s 24 yard line but lost a fumble, giving the Commanders another opportunity. Washington then moved into field goal range, but Daniels was tackled with 12 seconds remaining and the team couldn’t get lined up for another snap before time expired.

The game ended in a 27-27 tie, leaving both teams frustrated after coming so close to winning.

New York will take confidence from its comeback, while Washington must find a way to finish games after letting a promising performance slip away.
