The Miami Heat opened their NBA Cup campaign in impressive fashion Friday night, taking down the Indiana Pacers 145-125 behind a monster performance from Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Antetokounmpo finished with 31 points, 17 rebounds and 10 assists, recording a triple-double while controlling the game on both ends of the floor. His performance gave Miami exactly what it needed to begin its NBA Cup run with a statement victory.

Miami’s Offense Takes Over

The Heat had to overcome an early challenge from Indiana, which came out firing and scored 42 points in the first quarter. The Pacers carried a 42-36 advantage into the second period and appeared ready to make things difficult for Miami.

However, the Heat completely changed the momentum before halftime. Miami closed the second quarter on a 22-7 run, turning a deficit into a 68-61 lead at the break.

The momentum continued after halftime. Miami opened the third quarter with a 10-0 run, creating separation and putting Indiana in a difficult position.

Klay Thompson played a major role in the offensive explosion, finishing with 25 points and seven three-pointers. It was one of his best performances since joining Miami and gave the Heat another dangerous scoring option alongside Antetokounmpo.

Bam Adebayo also delivered a strong performance, adding 27 points and nine rebounds. Pelle Larsson contributed 18 points, while Davion Mitchell finished with 15 points and 11 assists.

A Strong Start to NBA Cup Play

Indiana struggled to keep pace after its impressive opening quarter. Quenton Jackson led the Pacers with 24 points, while Andrew Nembhard added 22 points and nine assists.

The Heat continued scoring in the fourth quarter, putting up 42 points in the final period to secure the 20-point victory.

Miami’s performance showed how dangerous this team can be when its stars are clicking together. Antetokounmpo’s ability to score, rebound and create opportunities for teammates gives the Heat a major advantage.

The NBA Cup group stage is only beginning, but Miami has already made a statement. If Giannis continues playing at this level and Thompson keeps knocking down shots, the Heat could become a serious threat as the tournament moves forward.
