President Donald Trump brought former Georgia and NFL superstar Todd Gurley aboard Air Force One for a Georgia rally, turning heads across the sports world.

President Donald Trump made headlines in Georgia on Friday, but it wasn’t just because of politics. This time, he brought along one of the greatest running backs in Georgia Bulldogs history.

Former Georgia superstar and NFL All-Pro Todd Gurley joined Trump aboard Air Force One before attending a campaign rally in Dalton, Georgia, ahead of the November midterm elections.

Gurley was photographed walking alongside the president after landing at Dobbins Air Reserve Base in Marietta. Trump later welcomed the former NFL star onstage, where Gurley thanked him for the experience and greeted the crowd with a familiar “Go Dawgs!”

For Georgia fans, Gurley needs no introduction. The former Bulldog rushed for 3,285 yards and 36 touchdowns during his college career before becoming the 10th overall selection in the 2015 NFL Draft. He later became a three-time Pro Bowler and won NFL Offensive Player of the Year in 2017.

Interestingly, Gurley isn’t the first Georgia football star to appear alongside Trump. Current Bulldogs quarterback Gunner Stockton attended a Trump rally earlier this year, while Georgia legend Herschel Walker has maintained a longstanding relationship with the president.

Trump’s appearance in Dalton was intended to support Republican candidates Mike Collins and Rick Jackson ahead of the November 3 elections.

Whether fans agree with the politics or not, seeing one of Georgia’s most beloved football legends stepping off Air Force One alongside the president was certainly an unexpected crossover between sports and politics.

From Sanford Stadium to the NFL and now Air Force One, Todd Gurley continues to make headlines long after his playing days.
