It has been more than a year and a half, and somehow the Luka Dončić trade keeps getting worse for the Dallas Mavericks.
Now even President Donald Trump is talking about it.
While speaking Wednesday night at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Trump brought up the Mavericks’ stunning decision to trade Dončić to the Los Angeles Lakers.
“I don’t understand the trade,” Trump said, before saying it “might go down as the worst trade in the history of sports.”
He even joked about fixing it himself.
“Maybe we could redo that trade. I redo deals all the time,” Trump said.
At this point, can you even blame him?
Dallas traded a 25-year-old superstar who had just led the franchise to the 2024 NBA Finals for a package centered around Anthony Davis. Since then, former GM Nico Harrison has been fired, and the Mavericks have already moved Davis to Washington.
Meanwhile, Dončić is a Laker.
Trump did admit that Boston selling Babe Ruth to the Yankees might still be the worst move in sports history.
But the fact that the Dončić trade is even being mentioned in the same conversation tells you everything.
Dallas might never live this one down.
