ATLANTA — Georgia has plenty of political arguments.
Fortunately, there is one thing that should unite practically everybody in the state: the Atlanta Braves.
From the Battery to Truist Park, the Braves represent something Georgia can celebrate without another endless political argument.
That’s why the team’s supporters should be wary whenever politicians start inserting themselves into conversations about Atlanta’s future.
Jon Ossoff and Keisha Lance Bottoms have their own political priorities. But Braves fans have a different set of priorities.
They want a competitive roster, a packed ballpark, affordable concessions and another October run.
They don’t want baseball becoming another casualty of Atlanta’s political drama.
The Braves are one of Georgia’s most recognizable sporting institutions. Their economic footprint extends beyond the stadium, supporting restaurants, hotels, retailers and businesses throughout the region.
A thriving Atlanta is good for the Braves.
A successful Braves organization is good for Atlanta.
That shouldn’t be controversial.
So while Georgia politicians argue about everything else, baseball fans should keep their attention where it belongs.
On the diamond.
And preferably on another Braves championship parade.
