The Atlanta Dream are one win away from their first WNBA championship, and Angel Reese could be the biggest reason they finish the job.
Reese has been a force throughout the Finals, using her rebounding, physicality and playmaking to give Atlanta an advantage that goes beyond the box score.
She made history in Game 6, reaching 78 rebounds in the Finals to set a new single-series record. She also contributed 15 points and six assists in Atlanta’s 80-69 victory, helping the Dream force a winner-take-all Game 7.
What makes Reese so important is the pressure she puts on opposing defenses. When she attacks the glass, creates second-chance opportunities and gets teammates involved, Atlanta becomes a much tougher team to stop.
The Dream have gone 3-0 in the Finals when Reese scores 20 or more points, and her impact has been a major indicator of how well Atlanta performs.
Now she gets one final opportunity to deliver.
Golden State has home-court advantage, but Atlanta has the confidence and momentum after its Game 6 victory. If Reese brings the same energy and aggression, the Dream could be celebrating a championship.
