Josh Allen Matches Franchise Record in Buffalo’s 33-30 Victory
The Buffalo Bills escaped Las Vegas with a hard-fought 33-30 victory over the Raiders on Sunday, improving to 5-1 and continuing their strong start to the 2026 NFL season. Behind another impressive performance from quarterback Josh Allen and a clutch late game effort from the offense, Buffalo found a way to win a game that nearly slipped away.
The Raiders made the Bills work for every point at Allegiant Stadium, rallying in the second half and keeping the outcome in doubt until the final minutes. However, Buffalo made the necessary plays down the stretch to leave Las Vegas with the victory.
Josh Allen Makes History
Allen finished with 255 passing yards and two touchdown passes, completing 23 of 33 attempts. His biggest highlight came in the third quarter, when he escaped pressure and delivered an unusual 12-yard shovel pass to wide receiver Keon Coleman for a touchdown.
The score gave Buffalo a 23-13 advantage and allowed Allen to tie Hall of Famer Jim Kelly’s franchise record with 258 career touchdown passes, including the regular season and playoffs.
Allen’s performance demonstrated why he remains the centerpiece of Buffalo’s offense. Even when the Raiders’ defense closed in, he found creative ways to extend plays and move the football.
Running back James Cook also played a major role in the victory. Cook rushed for 95 yards and scored the go-ahead touchdown on a three yard run with 4:43 remaining in the fourth quarter. He added three receptions for 58 yards, providing another important weapon in the passing game.
Raiders Nearly Complete the Comeback
Las Vegas refused to go away. Quarterback Kirk Cousins threw for 313 yards and two touchdowns, connecting with wide receiver Tre Tucker for both scores.
Tucker finished with 97 receiving yards, including a spectacular 44-yard touchdown catch that brought the Raiders within striking distance late in the fourth quarter. The Raiders had erased Buffalo’s advantage and tied the game at 23, putting pressure on the Bills to respond.
Buffalo answered with Cook’s touchdown before Tyler Bass delivered a crucial 38-yard field goal with 1:56 remaining. That kick proved vital as the Raiders continued fighting until the final moments.
Buffalo Heads Into the Bye Week
The Bills improved to 5-1 and head into their bye week with momentum, while the Raiders fell to 3-3 after suffering their third consecutive loss.
Although Buffalo secured the win, the defense will have areas to address after allowing Las Vegas to rally. Still, avoiding turnovers and making key plays late helped the Bills secure an important road victory.
Buffalo returns to action November 1 against the Baltimore Ravens. With Allen playing at a high level and Cook contributing as both a runner and receiver, the Bills will look to build on their strong start as the season continues.
