Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark might be ruining one of basketball’s favorite narratives.

After years of being portrayed as bitter rivals, the two are now teammates with Team USA at the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup.

And apparently, they’re having a pretty good time.

Reese said she and Clark have been able to “rely on each other” while playing together and explained that years of competing against one another have made it easier to understand each other’s games. Clark has also pushed back against some of the narratives surrounding their relationship, calling many of them “false takes.”

They’re backing it up on the court.

In Team USA’s 108-56 quarterfinal win over Hungary, Reese finished with nine points, six rebounds and three assists, while Clark added 10 points and nine assists.

For two players who have been compared and debated against each other for years, seeing them actually thrive together is pretty ironic.

Maybe Angel Reese vs. Caitlin Clark isn’t quite the rivalry everyone wants it to be.
