Angel Reese has apparently decided to make the Caitlin Clark debate even more complicated.
Reese was asked about playing alongside Clark for Team USA, and her response was remarkably positive.
She said the two know each other’s games extremely well after years of competing against one another.
Then they went out and looked like they actually enjoy playing together.
Clark finished with 10 points and nine assists.
Reese added nine points, six rebounds and three assists.
The United States won by 52 points.
So much for the internet’s favorite rivalry.
The two stars have spent years being compared, dissected and pitted against each other.
Now they’re teammates, sharing the court and helping Team USA cruise into the semifinals.
And Reese isn’t treating Clark like some sworn enemy.
She’s embracing it.
That might be the most interesting development of all.
Because if Clark and Reese can turn their competitive history into chemistry, women’s basketball gets something even better than another rivalry.
It gets two enormous stars making each other better.
And judging by Thursday’s performance, that could be a nightmare for the rest of the world.
