Georgia football is going to look a little strange Saturday.
For the first time in program history, the Bulldogs will take the field wearing white helmets, white jerseys and white pants when they host Western Kentucky.
And Georgia isn’t stopping with the uniforms.
Saturday has officially been designated an “Unleashed White Out,” with Bulldog fans encouraged to wear white throughout Sanford Stadium.
That’s something we almost never see in Athens.
Georgia has traditionally stayed pretty conservative with its uniforms, especially under Kirby Smart. But the Bulldogs are 4-0 in alternate uniforms during the Smart era, including games wearing black jerseys and the famous white-jersey/red-pants combination against Arkansas in 2020.
Now they’re taking it even further.
The new helmets are white with red and black stripes, while the jerseys feature black numbers with red trim. Players apparently loved the uniforms when they were first revealed, with KJ Bolden predicting they’ll bring an extra spark to Sanford Stadium.
The opponent probably shouldn’t provide much drama.
No. 3 Georgia is coming off a 63-3 demolition of Tennessee State, while Western Kentucky lost its opener 49-14 to Nevada.
But this game is going to be worth watching for the visuals alone.
White helmets. White jerseys. White pants. More than 90,000 Georgia fans being asked to wear white.
Sanford Stadium is going to look completely different Saturday.
