The Marlins travel to Milwaukee to take on the Brewers in a three game series. The Marlins enter the series 52-45 on the season and the Brewers enter the series 59-37 on the season. The Marlins sit in third place in the NL East trailing the first place team by five games and the Brewers lead the NL Central by six games.
Game 1
The Brewers defeated the Marlins 2-1 in 10 innings to get the win to get their 60th win of the season to improve to 60-37 and the Marlins fall to 52-46. This game turned into a pitchers duel. The Marlins opened the scoring on a solo homer in the top of the 5th on a homer by Griffin Conine. The Brewers responded on a solo homer of their own in the bottom of the 5th inning by Joey Ortiz. In the bottom of the 10th inning, Garrett Mitchell hit a walkoff RBI single to give the Brewers the win. Craig Yoho got his first win of the season in relief for the Brewers to improve to 1-0 with a 2.57 ERA and Marlins reliever Lake Bachar got his first loss of the season to fall to 1-1 on the season with a 3.53 ERA.
Game 2
The Brewers defeated the Marlins 8-6 to secure the series win. The Brewers improve to 61-37 on the season while the Marlins fall to 52-47. The Brewers trailed 3-2 after three innings. In the bottom of the 6th, the Brewers scored 4 runs to take the lead 6-4. Jackson Chourio had a 2 rbi single and Garrett Mitchell had a 2 rbi double. The Brewers tacked on two more runs in the bottom of the 7th on a 2 rbi double by Christian Yelich to take an 8-3 lead. Griffin Conine of the Marlins hit a 3 run homer in the top of the 9th to cut the game to 8-6. Shane Drohan picked up the win for the Brewers to improve to 5-3 on the season with a 3.20 ERA. Calvin Faucher picked up the loss for the Marlins to fall to 4-5 on the season with a 5.01 ERA. Trevor Megill picked up his 15th save of the season.
Game 3
The Brewers defeated the Marlins 3-1 to sweep the series. The Brewers improve to 62-37 on the season and the Marlins fall to 52-48. It was a pitching duel in todays game. The Marlins opened up the scoring in the top of the 3rd on a solo homer by Esteury Ruiz. Marlins starter Eury Perez pitched 6 innings and only allowed 1 hit with 3 BB and 9 K’s. Brewers starter Robert Gasser pitched 5 innings giving up 3 hits on 1 ER with 0 BB and 5 K’s. The score remained 1-0 Marlins after 8 innings. With 1 out in the bottom of the 9th, Brewers catcher William Contreras hit a walkoff 3 run homer to give the Brewers the win! Grant Anderson got the win for the Brewers improving to 3-3 on the season with a 3.53 ERA. Pete Fairbanks got the loss for the Marlins dropping to 3-4 on the season with a 7.42 ERA.
