Racing Returns to NASCAR’s Best Track

The best track on the NASCAR schedule has returned once again. The Quaker State 400 begins at 7pm on July 12th. Will we see another big name like Logano, Reddick, Elliot, or Byron win this thrilling 1.5 mile mini superspeedway, or perhaps we will see the rare upset by a superspeedway specialist such as McDowell, Cindric, or Wallace ?

Ford comes in strong qualifying 1-2 with Blaney and Logano. After the two of them, there is a bit of a shocking sequence as we see five Chevrolet’s make up the rows behind them: Kyle Larson, Austin Dillon, Daniel Suarez, Alex Bowman, and Chase Elliott. With Toyota being so dominant this season, the latter names aren’t the only surprise to this list.

Some other notable surprises to add would be Erik Jones at 11, Shane van Gisbergen at 12, Hocervar at 14, and Ty Dillon at 16. Not that I like their odds, but I am impressed at the speed they brought to Atlanta.

The magic this track brings is intangible. While physically at the track, everyone is on the edge of their seat. Any driver can jump slipstreams at any time. Bad wrecks happen at any corner. Another night race in Atlanta is bound to bring exactly what this sport needs: electrifying action on an exhilarating track.
