The future of Aaron Rodgers remains uncertain this offseason, as the veteran quarterback weighs whether to return for another season, continue with the Pittsburgh Steelers, explore other opportunities, or retire after more than two decades in the NFL.

Rodgers, 42, is coming off the 2025 season in Pittsburgh, where he helped guide the Steelers to an AFC North title while providing stability and experience at quarterback. His performance showed flashes of the form that made him one of the league’s most accomplished players, though questions about longevity and durability continue to follow the four-time MVP.

If Rodgers chooses to continue playing, a return to Pittsburgh remains a possibility. The Steelers benefited from his leadership, efficiency, and continuity, and a team looking to build on a division-winning season could find that appealing. Still, the organization must weigh long-term plans at quarterback against the short-term upside Rodgers provides.

Beyond Pittsburgh, Rodgers could draw interest from teams seeking a proven veteran presence. Quarterback-needy franchises in contention may view him as a potential bridge option capable of elevating an offense, even at this stage of his career.

Retirement is also firmly on the table. Rodgers has long expressed interests outside of football, including media and business ventures, and has approached past offseasons with a reflective mindset before deciding whether to continue playing.

Rodgers’ career résumé is already secure. During his tenure with the Green Bay Packers, he won a Super Bowl and earned four NFL MVP awards, cementing his place among the greatest quarterbacks in league history. A later stint with the New York Jets was derailed early in 2023 by a torn Achilles tendon, though he returned to play the following season before moving on.

Now, as the NFL offseason unfolds, Rodgers once again finds himself at a crossroads. Whether he returns for a 22nd season, changes teams, or steps away from the game, his decision is expected to have ripple effects across the league.

For now, teams — and fans — wait.
