MOORESVILLE, N.C. — NASCAR legend Mark Martin will return to the track next month at Darlington Raceway, serving as the honorary pace car driver for the upcoming Goodyear 400.
Martin, one of the most respected drivers in NASCAR history, will lead the field to green during the sport’s annual throwback weekend at the historic South Carolina oval.
The Hall of Famer built a legendary career that included 40 wins in the NASCAR Cup Series and multiple near-championship runs, earning a reputation for consistency and professionalism across more than three decades in the sport.
Darlington has long been one of Martin’s signature tracks. He captured multiple victories at the notoriously tough “Track Too Tough to Tame,” making his return to the venue especially fitting for one of NASCAR’s most celebrated veterans.
Martin’s presence adds another layer of nostalgia to the Goodyear 400 weekend, which already serves as a celebration of the sport’s history with throwback paint schemes and tributes to past eras.
When the field rolls off for the race, it will be Martin — one of NASCAR’s all-time greats — leading them to the green at one of the sport’s most historic speedways.
Martin led a major part of the push to return to the Chase format over a playoff this past season, which NASCAR introduced in December.
