Joel Quenneville is Making Hockey History in Anaheim

Joel Quenneville added another massive milestone to his legendary coaching career Wednesday night, becoming the second-winningest coach in NHL playoff history after leading the Anaheim Ducks to a huge 3-1 road win over the Vegas Golden Knights in Game 2 of the Western Conference semifinals.

The win evened the series at 1-1 as the Ducks now head back to Anaheim with momentum completely on their side.

For nearly the entire night, Anaheim looked poised to leave Vegas with a statement shutout victory before the Golden Knights spoiled it with a goal in the final five seconds. Tough break for the goalie, but the Ducks will gladly take the result anyway.

And honestly, this playoff run is starting to feel very familiar.

Anaheim followed almost the exact same script in the first round against Edmonton Oilers. The Ducks showed flashes in a gritty Game 1 loss before storming into Game 2 and completely flipping the series. Now they have done it again against one of the NHL’s toughest teams.

If you are a Ducks fan right now, you have to feel incredible heading home.

Quenneville continues proving why he is one of the greatest hockey coaches ever. Everywhere he goes, teams win. The structure is there. The confidence is there. And now these young Ducks suddenly look fearless on the playoff stage.

The Pond is about to be rocking. We officially have ourselves a series, and Anaheim suddenly looks like a team nobody wants to play.

The Ducks are soaring. Quack quack.
