Is Bubba Wallace Having a Down Year?

Bubba Wallace heads into the NASCAR All-Star Race break facing growing questions about his 2026 season.

By his own standards, Wallace has had a slightly disappointing year so far. While he has shown flashes of speed and remained competitive on certain weekends, the overall consistency and race-winning pace have not matched expectations for a driver now firmly established as a veteran leader at 23XI Racing.

The comparisons to teammate Tyler Reddick only add to the scrutiny. Reddick continues to maximize similar equipment, regularly contending for wins and stage points while keeping himself in the championship conversation. That contrast has naturally fueled more discussion around Wallace’s long-term ceiling and whether he can consistently perform at the elite level many expected.

Still, the season is far from over. Wallace has historically been strong on superspeedways and intermediate tracks during the summer stretch, giving him plenty of opportunities to shift the narrative in the second half of the year.
