The new Week 5 AP Top 25 is officially out, and after a chaotic weekend of college football, there are some massive changes throughout the rankings.

Texas remains No. 1, receiving 62 first-place votes after surviving Tennessee 20-17 on the road. Georgia stays right behind at No. 2 after dismantling Oklahoma 41-13, while Notre Dame remains No. 3. Miami jumps two spots to No. 4, and Ohio State moves back into the top five.

But the biggest story is Florida.

The Gators exploded from No. 21 all the way to No. 8 after a statement win over Ole Miss. Florida is now 4-0 under first-year head coach Jon Sumrall and has reached the top 10 for the first time since 2021. Ole Miss paid the price for the loss, falling five spots from No. 4 to No. 9.

Mississippi State was another huge riser, jumping eight spots to No. 16 after beating Missouri and improving to 4-0. Oregon climbed five spots to No. 15 after its road win over USC, while Iowa moved up to No. 14 after stunning Michigan on the final play.

The biggest damage came outside the poll. Penn State, Michigan, Louisville and Texas A&M all dropped out, while Oklahoma State, Boise State, UCLA and Kentucky entered. Boise State also becomes the first Group of Six team ranked this season.

The top 10 now reads: Texas, Georgia, Notre Dame, Miami, Ohio State, Indiana, Alabama, Florida, Ole Miss and BYU.

Week 4 delivered chaos, and the AP Poll reflects it. Texas still owns the top spot, but Georgia is gaining first-place votes, Florida has crashed the national conversation, and several preseason contenders are already disappearing from the rankings.
