Pacers Star Faces Another Setback
The Indiana Pacers have suffered another major setback as star point guard Tyrese Haliburton is expected to miss at least two weeks with a strained left hamstring. The injury comes just weeks after Haliburton returned to the court following an entire season spent recovering from a torn Achilles tendon.
Haliburton played in Indiana’s first four games of the 2026-27 NBA season before experiencing hamstring tightness. After initially being listed as questionable for Wednesday’s matchup against the Philadelphia 76ers, further evaluation revealed a mild strain that will keep him sidelined for the foreseeable future. Head coach Rick Carlisle confirmed that Haliburton will be considered week-to-week, with another update expected in approximately two weeks.
Haliburton Was Off to a Strong Start
Before the latest injury, Haliburton had looked impressive in his return to regular-season action. The two-time All-Star averaged 21.8 points and 9.5 assists through his first four games, quickly reminding fans how important he is to Indiana’s offense.
His return was an emotional moment after he missed the entire 2025-26 season because of the torn right Achilles tendon he suffered during Game 7 of the 2025 NBA Finals against Oklahoma City.
Haliburton’s playmaking, scoring and ability to create opportunities for teammates had given the Pacers renewed optimism heading into the season. Now, the organization must once again adjust without its leading playmaker.
Indiana Must Find Answers Without Its Star
The Pacers began the season 2-2, and losing Haliburton creates another challenge for a team already dealing with several injuries.
Indiana will likely rely more heavily on Pascal Siakam and its remaining guards to generate offense while Haliburton recovers. The team will also need to be careful with his rehabilitation, particularly after the lengthy recovery from his Achilles injury.
The Focus Turns to Recovery
Although the hamstring strain is a disappointing development, the initial outlook suggests Haliburton will be evaluated over the coming weeks rather than facing another season-long absence.
For Indiana, patience will be essential. Haliburton’s return had already given the franchise a reason for optimism, and the priority now is ensuring he can return healthy and remain on the court.
