The Falcons Somehow Built the Worst Quarterback Plan in Football

The Atlanta Falcons finally have a quarterback plan. That might...

Atlanta finally had a plan.

Tua Tagovailoa would start Week 1. Michael Penix Jr. would continue his recovery. Cooper Rush would provide the veteran insurance.

Simple enough, for Falcons standards at least.

Then Tua got hurt in practice.

Again, the Falcons are dealing with quarterback uncertainty before they have even played a meaningful snap.

And that is becoming the story.

Tua’s talent has never been the biggest question. Availability has.

Atlanta took a chance on him because the former Pro Bowl quarterback could stabilize the position while Penix worked his way back.

Instead, the Falcons are right back in the quarterback-carousel conversation.

Maybe this injury turns out to be minor. That would be the best possible outcome.

But Falcons fans have seen this movie before.

They don’t need another quarterback controversy.

They don’t need another injury storyline.

They certainly don’t need to spend another season asking who will actually be under center.

Atlanta just needs one quarterback to stay healthy long enough to finish the damn season.
