Top 5: Taylor Gray’s Dark Horse Surge

Taylor Gray (+1200) emerges as the dark horse of the weekend, piloting the No. 54 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota, owned by Ty Gibbs.

His runner-up finish in Mexico City showcases his ability to compete with the best. Gray’s been putting together some solid runs lately and is due for a result on an oval. Never mind the fact Pocono happens to be one of his better tracks, where he has a Top 5 in last year’s Xfinity Race and a string of Truck Series results.

Now, let’s reach a bit further and mention Gray’s brother, Tanner, took home P2 in the Truck Race on Friday and Gray’s Xfinity Series owner Ty Gibbs has proven results at Pocono as well. Gibbs finished 2nd here in 2022 in an instant classic duel against Noah Gragson.

I love Taylor Gray for a Top 5 (+135) here at Pocono and am mulling an outright bet to win the race as well, though I believe the odds should be closer to 18-1 and am a bit bummed out by the +1200 number.

For now, let’s hammer the Top 5 at (+135).

Taylor Gray is going to show up and surprise some folks at Pocono, as he usually tends to do on the trucks side of things.

Even America’s Crew Chief, the legendary Larry McReynolds tends to believe it, picking Gray to win outright on Saturday!

Now, for my favorite segment of the week, longshots! Next we will look at some fun sprinkle picks for the race, which will be fun to monitor.
