Scottie Scheffler just won the FedExCup, and apparently even Tiger Woods had to stop and give the man his flowers.
Woods took to social media Sunday to congratulate Scheffler following his three-shot victory over Viktor Hovland at East Lake, praising the world No. 1 for what has been another remarkable season.
And coming from Woods, that hits differently.
Scheffler closed with a 4-under 66 to erase a three-shot deficit and capture his second FedExCup title in three years. The victory was his third of the season and the 22nd of his career. He also officially passed Woods for the top spot on the PGA Tour’s all-time career earnings list, finishing the week with more than $130.3 million.
But the money isn’t what makes this fascinating.
It’s the respect.
Woods spent decades setting the standard for modern golf. Now he’s watching Scheffler establish his own era of dominance — and publicly acknowledging it.
Scheffler may not have had the six-win, two-major season we’ve come to expect from him, but he finished it exactly how a superstar should: with a trophy.
Tiger noticed.
And when Tiger Woods tells you you’re having a historic season, you probably ought to listen.
