The Minnesota Vikings might have created something special.
Kyler Murray and Justin Jefferson could become one of the best quarterback-receiver duos in football.
Minnesota officially named Murray its Week 1 starter after signing him this offseason, giving the former No. 1 overall pick a fresh start under Kevin O’Connell.
And Jefferson already seems impressed.
After working with Murray throughout the offseason, Jefferson specifically praised his arm talent and ability to make different throws, something he admitted surprised him after seeing Murray up close. Their chemistry has continued to grow throughout camp.
That’s where this gets scary.
Jefferson still recorded 1,048 receiving yards last season despite Minnesota’s inconsistent quarterback play, but scored only two touchdowns. Now he’s paired with a quarterback who can attack defenses downfield and extend plays with his legs.
Imagine Jefferson trying to uncover downfield while Murray escapes the pocket and buys another three or four seconds.
Good luck defending that.
Murray has something to prove. Jefferson wants to remind everyone he’s still the best receiver in football.
