The most electric event in all of sports has returned.

The Tour de France began this year in scenic Barcelona for the first time ever. The favorites to win it all this year are, to no one’s surprise, the same two athletes that have won the last six Tour de Frances: Tadej Pogacar and Jonas Vingegaard.

Stage 1 found us following a new team time trial model. Their aerodynamic, Tron-esque helmets left no questions as each team screamed through the iconic streets of Barcelona.

This new model at the beginning of Le Tour left the Maillot Jaune up for anyone’s taking. What was once thought to be a futuristic-looking, yet slow start for the viewers quickly had the heat turned up as both of this year’s Le Tour favorites, Pogacar and Vingegaard, broke free from their teams as the best possible time would be wearing yellow at the end of the day.

In the end, Vingegaard and Visma finished first, while individually he finished 12 seconds ahead of Pogacar and UAE, who finished third, to put on the yellow jersey at the end of Day 1.

An epic start to what is shaping up to be a fantastic three weeks.
