The Dallas Cowboys needed a statement win. They delivered one against their biggest rival.
Dallas defeated the Philadelphia Eagles 38-21 on Monday night, snapping a two-game losing streak and handing Philadelphia its fifth consecutive loss. The result leaves the Cowboys at 3-4, while the Eagles fall to 2-5.
The biggest difference was Dallas finally committing to the running game.
Javonte Williams rushed for a career-high 155 yards and a touchdown on 25 carries. The Cowboys finished with 204 rushing yards after entering the game near the bottom of the league in rushing production.
Dak Prescott also looked far more comfortable, throwing for 212 yards and three touchdowns without an interception. CeeDee Lamb caught two of those scoring passes.
Philadelphia briefly took a 21-20 lead in the third quarter, but Dallas responded with 18 unanswered points to close out the game.
The Eagles have legitimate injury concerns, including the absence of quarterback Jalen Hurts. Still, five consecutive losses are difficult to dismiss for a team expected to contend.
Dallas has plenty to prove, too. One victory does not erase its earlier struggles, and consistency remains the biggest question surrounding the Cowboys.
But Monday night changed the conversation. Dallas finally looked like a balanced offense, while Philadelphia looked vulnerable.
Which team should fans trust more right now: the Cowboys after this breakthrough, or the Eagles to turn things around?
