The Atlanta Braves are 36-16, own the best record in Major League Baseball, and honestly, this might be the most dangerous Braves team since the 2021 World Series run.
What makes this season so scary for the rest of baseball is that Atlanta has reached this level despite not even playing close to its full potential yet.
Ronald Acuña Jr. missed time earlier in the year and still only has two home runs. Austin Riley is batting just .221 with an OPS under .700. Sean Murphy barely played before getting hurt again. Spencer Strider only recently returned to the rotation. And yet the Braves are still dominating baseball with a +105 run differential — by far the best in MLB.
That usually means one thing:
The ceiling is terrifying.
The offense alone looks capable of becoming historic if everybody gets hot at the same time. Matt Olson already has 14 home runs and a .899 OPS, Drake Baldwin has unexpectedly become one of the best offensive catchers in baseball, Michael Harris II looks back to star form, and Dominic Smith has quietly been an incredible pickup with an .892 OPS.
And then there is Acuña.
Even while clearly still working back into rhythm, he already has seven stolen bases and a .365 OBP. If Ronald starts looking like MVP Ronald again by midseason, the Braves lineup suddenly becomes almost impossible to pitch to.
Because right now, Atlanta is winning games without its biggest superstar fully unlocked.
That is ridiculous.
The pitching staff is what truly separates this team from past Braves squads though.
Chris Sale has looked completely reborn with a 1.89 ERA and 72 strikeouts in just 62 innings. Bryce Elder has shockingly turned into one of the most reliable starters in baseball with a 1.97 ERA and a sub-1.00 WHIP. Spencer Strider is returning. Raisel Iglesias still has a 0.00 ERA with eight saves. Dylan Lee has become one of the best setup relievers in baseball.
Even the bullpen — traditionally Atlanta’s biggest weakness in past years — suddenly feels deep and trustworthy.
That is why the Braves’ ceiling honestly looks like “best team in baseball by a mile.”
The Dodgers still have superstar power. The Phillies still have playoff experience. The Yankees still have elite talent. But Atlanta feels like the most complete roster in the sport right now.
The scary part is that the Braves are built for October too.
They have frontline starters, elite power, speed, bullpen depth, playoff experience, defensive versatility, and stars that have already won a championship together. Most teams have obvious flaws. Atlanta currently does not have many.
And the numbers back it up.
Their 281 runs scored lead MLB. Their 176 runs allowed are among the best in baseball. They are top-tier both offensively and defensively, which is usually the sign of a legitimate championship favorite — not just a regular season team getting hot.
Honestly, the biggest threat to the Braves may just be health.
If Acuña stays healthy, Strider fully returns to ace form, and Sale maintains anything close to this level, Atlanta absolutely has the ceiling to win 110+ games and steamroll through the National League.
That is not exaggeration anymore.
This team looks like a machine.
And somehow, it still feels like the Braves have another level they have not even reached yet.
