Texas A&M couldn’t have asked for a better start to the 2026 season.

The No. 8 Aggies dominated Missouri State 50-0 Saturday night at Kyle Field, overwhelming the Bears on both sides of the football and immediately showing why they entered the season with major expectations.

Aggies Control the Game From the Start

Texas A&M came out attacking and never allowed Missouri State to find any rhythm.

The Aggies consistently moved the football while their defense made life miserable for the Bears. A shutout in the season opener is exactly the kind of performance Mike Elko wanted to see from his team.

With the Aggies entering the season ranked inside the top 10, there was pressure to avoid a slow start. Instead, Texas A&M looked like a team ready to compete for the SEC.

The Offense Makes a Statement

The biggest takeaway was the Aggies’ ability to keep pressure on Missouri State throughout the night.

Texas A&M reached the 50-point mark while keeping the Bears off the scoreboard entirely. The Aggies’ balance and explosive playmaking made it difficult for Missouri State to slow down the attack.

It was the kind of offensive performance that can create confidence heading into a much more difficult portion of the schedule.

The Defense Is Just as Impressive

While the offense received plenty of attention, Texas A&M’s defense deserves plenty of credit.

The Aggies pitched a complete shutout, keeping Missouri State from finding any consistent offensive success. Holding an opponent to zero points in the opener is an encouraging sign for a team with championship aspirations.

If the defense can maintain that level of play against SEC competition, Texas A&M could become a serious problem for the rest of the conference.

Arizona State Is Next

The Aggies now turn their attention to a much bigger test.

Texas A&M will remain at Kyle Field next Saturday when Arizona State comes to College Station. The Sun Devils will provide a significant step up in competition and give the Aggies their first opportunity to prove this dominant opener was more than just a tune-up.

For now, though, Texas A&M has plenty to celebrate.

The Aggies opened the season with a statement, and the rest of the SEC has officially been put on notice.
