Atlanta Falcons fall to No. 23 in The Athletic rankings after a 16-0 loss to Tampa Bay, while Denver and Chicago surge in Week 9.

Shohei Ohtani has established himself as one of the greatest talents baseball has ever seen, but the Los Angeles Dodgers desperately need their superstar to rediscover his form. With the team trailing the Milwaukee Brewers 2-0 in the National League Championship Series, questions are growing about whether Ohtani can get back to normal before it is too late.

The four-time MVP has struggled throughout the postseason, and his recent performance has become a major concern for a Dodgers team trying to win another World Series.

Ohtani’s Slump Is Becoming a Problem

Ohtani finished the regular season with 30 home runs, 81 RBIs and an .889 OPS, numbers that would make most players proud. However, his recent struggles have been difficult to ignore.

Through the first two games against Milwaukee, Ohtani went just 3-for-20 in the postseason, with no extra-base hits and seven strikeouts. He also has not hit a home run since August 18, leaving the Dodgers waiting for the power that normally makes him one of baseball’s most dangerous hitters.

The biggest concern is that Ohtani has not looked like himself for an extended period. His timing has been inconsistent, and opposing pitchers have found ways to take advantage of his struggles.

Injuries Could Be Playing a Major Role

Ohtani’s situation is more complicated than simply going through a hitting slump.

The Dodgers star has been dealing with a right biceps issue and left knee problems that affected him during the second half of the season. Those injuries forced him to miss time and prevented him from pitching during the postseason.

Although Ohtani remains capable of changing a game with one swing, playing through physical problems can make it difficult to maintain his usual approach at the plate.

Los Angeles manager Dave Roberts has expressed confidence that Ohtani can recover his form, but the team is reportedly considering sitting him for Game 3 as it evaluates his condition.

Can Ohtani Turn Things Around?

The Dodgers are running out of room for mistakes after falling behind Milwaukee in the best-of-seven series.

Ohtani has delivered spectacular postseason performances before, and his talent makes it dangerous to count him out. However, Los Angeles needs more production from its biggest star if it hopes to extend its championship run.

The question now is whether Ohtani can find his swing in time to save the Dodgers’ season. With their World Series hopes on the line, the clock is ticking for baseball’s biggest superstar.
