The Tampa Bay Rays refused to let their season end Tuesday night, delivering a dramatic 4-3 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers in 12 innings in Game 4 of the 2026 World Series. Facing elimination after falling behind 3-0 in the series, Tampa Bay rallied in the bottom of the 12th inning to keep its championship hopes alive and force a Game 5.
The victory came after a tense, back-and-forth battle at Tropicana Field. Milwaukee appeared poised to complete the sweep when rookie Cooper Pratt launched a go-ahead home run in the top of the 12th, giving the Brewers a 3-2 advantage. However, the Rays answered with a remarkable rally that extended the series.
Rays Rally When It Matters Most
Tampa Bay struck first in the second inning when Chandler Simpson delivered an RBI double to give the home team a 1-0 lead.
Milwaukee responded in the fourth inning, tying the game before the Rays regained the advantage on a fielder’s choice that brought Junior Caminero home. The Brewers tied the score again in the fifth when David Hamilton launched a solo home run.
Both bullpens settled in afterward, keeping the game tied through nine innings and sending the contest into extra innings.
The biggest moment arrived in the 12th. After Pratt’s home run put Milwaukee ahead, Tampa Bay needed three outs to keep its season alive. Instead, the Rays immediately went to work against the Brewers’ bullpen.
A throwing error allowed Caminero to reach base, and Liam Hicks followed with a single. Jonny DeLuca then delivered a clutch hit to bring home pinch-runner Cedric Mullins and tie the game at 3-3.
Chandler Simpson followed with another single to load the bases, setting the stage for pinch-hitter Ben Williamson.
Williamson delivered the decisive moment, lining a walk-off single into right field to score the winning run and send the Tropicana Field crowd into celebration.
Can Tampa Bay Complete the Comeback?
The victory ended Milwaukee’s eight-game postseason winning streak and prevented the Brewers from celebrating their first World Series championship.
Tampa Bay now faces the enormous challenge of winning three consecutive games to claim the title. No team has ever overcome a 3-0 deficit to win the World Series.
Game 5 is scheduled for Wednesday night at Tropicana Field, where the Rays will attempt to extend their season once again.
