The Los Angeles Rams bounced back in a big way Monday night, dominating the New York Giants 28-6 at SoFi Stadium.
After a disappointing Week 1 loss to the San Francisco 49ers, the Rams looked like a completely different team in their home opener. Los Angeles controlled the game from the start, finishing with 481 total yards while holding New York to just 182.
Matthew Stafford was at the center of the offensive explosion. The veteran quarterback completed 22 of 31 passes for 327 yards, four touchdowns and one interception. Stafford consistently found big plays down the field and helped the Rams build a comfortable lead before putting the game away in the second half.
Davante Adams was nearly impossible for the Giants to contain. The star receiver caught eight passes for 195 yards and two touchdowns, including a 31-yard score in the first quarter and an 11-yard touchdown in the third. It was Adams’ biggest performance since joining the Rams.
Kyren Williams also found the end zone through the air, catching a 10-yard touchdown pass from Stafford in the second quarter. Terrance Ferguson added another touchdown reception in the fourth quarter to put the game away.
The night was also significant because Aaron Donald officially returned to NFL action. The legendary defensive lineman recorded three tackles and made his presence felt throughout the game after spending the previous 32 months away from the field.
The Rams’ defense made life difficult for New York, especially after Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart left the game early with a knee injury. Jameis Winston struggled in relief, throwing for 111 yards and an interception.
The victory moves Los Angeles to 1-1 and gives the Rams some momentum heading into a major Week 3 matchup.
Next up, the Rams travel to Denver to face the Broncos on Sunday night.
