No. 6 Oregon will hit the road Saturday afternoon for another major nonconference test when the Ducks travel to Stillwater to take on Oklahoma State.
Oregon enters the matchup 1-0 after surviving a tough challenge from Boise State, winning 34-27. Oklahoma State, meanwhile, is looking to bounce back after opening the season with a loss at Tulsa. The Ducks are currently listed as heavy favorites heading into the matchup.
Dante Moore Looks To Build On Week 1
Quarterback Dante Moore will be one of the biggest storylines entering Saturday’s game.
Oregon has significant expectations surrounding Moore and its offense, and the Ducks will need him to remain composed on the road. After the close call against Boise State, Oregon has an opportunity to put together a more complete offensive performance against Oklahoma State.
The Ducks have plenty of playmakers surrounding Moore, giving Oregon multiple ways to attack the Cowboys.
Oklahoma State Looks For An Upset
Oklahoma State couldn’t have asked for a tougher bounce-back opportunity.
The Cowboys are coming off a disappointing loss to Tulsa and now face a ranked Oregon team that is coming off a 34-point performance against Boise State. Oklahoma State will need to play much cleaner football and find ways to slow down Oregon’s explosive offense.
Playing at Boone Pickens Stadium could provide the Cowboys with a major advantage, however. A hostile road environment will give Oregon another challenge after its narrow Week 1 victory.
Oregon Can’t Afford Another Slow Start
For the Ducks, this game is about more than simply getting another win.
Oregon entered the season with College Football Playoff expectations, and every road game against a Power Four opponent carries importance. The Ducks survived Boise State, but a similar performance against Oklahoma State could make things interesting.
Oregon will need to establish control early, avoid turnovers and prevent the Cowboys from hanging around.
If Oregon wants to prove it belongs among the nation’s elite, Saturday is another opportunity to make a statement.
