Fighting Irish Extend Winning Streak

The No. 3 Notre Dame Fighting Irish continued their impressive season Saturday, crushing Stanford 58-7 at Notre Dame Stadium. Notre Dame used explosive runs, an efficient passing attack and a dominant defensive performance to remain undefeated and extend its winning streak to 16 games.

Head coach Marcus Freeman watched his team control the game from the opening stages, as the Fighting Irish demonstrated why they remain among college football’s top contenders. Notre Dame improved to 6-0, while Stanford fell to 2-4 under first-year head coach Tavita Pritchard.

Jonaz Walton Delivers a Historic Run

Freshman running back Jonaz Walton provided one of the afternoon’s biggest highlights with a remarkable 97 yard touchdown run. The play was the third-longest offensive play in Notre Dame Stadium history and helped showcase the explosiveness of the Irish rushing attack.

Walton finished with 181 rushing yards and two touchdowns, including another scoring run of 40 yards. His performance gave Notre Dame a major boost on the ground and helped the Irish consistently move the football against Stanford’s defense.

Notre Dame finished with 361 rushing yards and 598 total yards, overwhelming the Cardinal throughout the afternoon.

CJ Carr Leads the Passing Attack

Quarterback CJ Carr also delivered an impressive performance, completing 14 of 20 passes for 181 yards and three touchdowns. Carr spread the ball around effectively, connecting with Aneyas Williams, Elijah Burress and Jaden Greathouse for scoring receptions.

The balanced attack made Notre Dame difficult to defend. While Walton and the running game created explosive plays, Carr took advantage of opportunities through the air to keep the scoreboard moving.

Running back Nolan James Jr. added another strong performance, rushing for 73 yards and two touchdowns as Notre Dame continued adding to its advantage.

Stanford Struggles to Keep Pace

Stanford had few answers for Notre Dame’s offense. Quarterback Davis Warren completed 12 of 22 passes for 144 yards, throwing one touchdown and one interception.

Wide receiver Benji Blackburn caught Stanford’s lone touchdown, but the Cardinal struggled to establish consistency against Notre Dame’s defense. Stanford managed just 202 total yards, including only 58 rushing yards.

The Irish defense consistently limited Stanford’s opportunities, allowing the offense to build an overwhelming lead.

Freeman’s Team Keeps Rolling

The 58-7 victory was another statement performance for Freeman and Notre Dame. The Fighting Irish showed they can dominate with both the running and passing games while maintaining pressure defensively.

Notre Dame will look to carry that momentum into its upcoming matchup against BYU. Stanford, meanwhile, must regroup after another difficult loss.

With Walton producing explosive runs and Carr directing an efficient offense, Notre Dame delivered a convincing win that kept its undefeated season firmly on track.
