Natalie Decker’s night at Dover Motor Speedway came to an abrupt and emotional end Friday during the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at the Monster Mile.
Decker, driving the No. 66 truck, was penalized and later black flagged by NASCAR during the event, leading to a tense and emotional exchange over the team radio. As frustration mounted, Decker indicated over the radio that she was “done” racing in the Truck Series, stunning many listening in to the in-race communications.
Following the exchange, Decker’s team and spotter made the decision to bring the truck behind the wall and officially retire from the race before the finish.
The situation quickly became one of the biggest talking points of the night at Dover, with fans and those in the garage trying to piece together exactly what unfolded during the chaotic sequence.
Decker has been a recognizable name around the NASCAR national series garage for years, competing across both the Truck and Xfinity Series levels while building a large following off the track as well. Friday’s emotional moment, however, marked one of the most unusual and unexpected exits seen during a Truck Series event this season.
