Western Michigan had Michigan dead to rights. The Broncos were seconds away from one of the biggest upsets of the college football season when Bryce Underwood’s first Hail Mary fell incomplete with the clock showing zero.

Then came the bailout.

Officials reviewed the play and put one second back on the clock, giving Michigan one final shot. Underwood promptly launched another Hail Mary, and JJ Buchanan came down with the 47-yard touchdown for a 13-12 Michigan win.

For WMU, that’s brutal. You celebrate. You think you pulled off the impossible. Then, suddenly, Michigan gets another play.

Lame doesn’t even begin to describe it.
