LeBron James brushes off President Donald Trump’s national anthem criticism with a sarcastic response, adding fuel to their ongoing feud.
LeBron James has finally responded to President Donald Trump, and it doesn’t sound like he’s losing any sleep over the controversy.
After Trump publicly blasted the NBA superstar for appearing to practice his golf swing during the national anthem, James was asked about the president’s criticism following Philadelphia’s game against Cleveland.
And his response was about as dismissive as it gets.
“Slow news day at the office, you know,” James said, brushing off the controversy rather than offering a lengthy explanation.
Trump had previously called James a “TOTAL DISGRACE” on Truth Social before mocking his movements during a rally, questioning why the basketball superstar was making golf-swing motions while the national anthem played.
The incident has sparked a heated debate across social media, with some fans accusing James of disrespecting the country and military veterans. Others believe the criticism has been blown completely out of proportion, arguing that James was simply stretching before the game.
But LeBron’s response might only make the controversy bigger.
Rather than directly addressing whether his actions were appropriate, James appeared content to dismiss the attention surrounding the situation.
The exchange also adds another chapter to the long-running tension between Trump and James, two of the most recognizable figures in American sports and politics.
Whether fans believe LeBron was disrespectful or think the entire controversy is ridiculous, his latest comments make one thing clear.
He’s not interested in apologizing just because the president called him out.
