Kyle Larson Flips While Leading at Attica, Walks Away After Wild World of Outlaws Crash
Kyle Larson’s incredible stretch of racing finally caught up with him Tuesday night.
The NASCAR Cup Series star and High Limit Racing co-owner suffered a frightening flip while leading the World of Outlaws Brad Doty Classic at Attica Raceway Park in Ohio. Larson caught the cushion on Lap 32, sending his sprint car airborne in a series of violent flips before it came to rest. He climbed from the car under his own power and was evaluated afterward, appearing to escape without serious injury.
Larson had led nine laps and appeared to have one of the fastest cars in the field before the accident ended his night.
If there is any silver lining, it’s that Larson appears to be OK.
The crash came during an exhausting stretch that few drivers in the world would even attempt. Larson raced until nearly 2 a.m. Monday morning after NASCAR waited out severe weather to complete all 400 miles of the Quaker State 400 at EchoPark Speedway. Less than 24 hours later, he was back in a sprint car competing in a High Limit Racing event Monday night at Fremont Speedway before climbing into his 57 car for a World of Outlaws race on Tuesday.
That’s three consecutive nights of racing and four straight days spent behind the wheel of a race car.
He’s probably just a little tired.
Unfortunately, Larson’s schedule doesn’t slow down much. He is expected to return to action later this week for High Limit Racing’s marquee events at Eldora Speedway before heading to North Wilkesboro Speedway to resume his NASCAR Cup Series campaign.
For most drivers, Tuesday night’s crash would be enough to warrant a few days off.
For Kyle Larson, it’s simply the next chapter in one of the busiest racing schedules in motorsports.
